yesterday i didn't fall in love
it would've been nice
(i mean i hear)
because great poetry doesn't spring
from boring tuesdays
like water from… damn i told you.

yesterday i didn't fall in love
it would've been hard
(i mean i hear)
because i don't feel any different
but i do wish
my coat felt warmer
and the sky wasn't so gray
and i won't die alone like we all do

yesterday i didn't fall in love
it would've been aces
i mean i hear
because i didn't
click my heels smell a garden sing a song
but i did joke around
and shoot the breeze
and eat lunch (not alone)
and high five
and put on a hat
and use a zipper
and listen to the blues
and see my breath
and feel far from not being
and i just smiled at the window
even though no one's out there,
that i can see from here.
