Socks
Patterns, shapes, sizes
they come in all different kinds.
Left behind, covered up, misunderstood,
they can’t help that this is how they feel sometimes.
Poor ole’ sock stuck in a drawer with no place to go,
no fun to explore; boring socks tired and blue
you would only know if socks could change color with their mood.
Sparkle, color and shine;
This is a sock I wish to call mine.
Full of joy, laughter, and fun.
so sweet, so genuine, so distinct, so kind,
The owner must be proud to claim such a rare find.
My best friends complete my look,
smiling up and slipped on foot.
Loyal companions is what they are,
though the road was rough, and
we were not always friends, by
communication and time our friendship would mend.
But wait, what do you think I am wearing on my feet?
Not those unworthy, embellished pair I wished to keep!
Soon to be distressed, frail, and no longer bright
Nope, it’s just me and my lovely old pair of forgotten socks.
I’d forgotten about them way back when.
Then I discovered them on a scavenger hunt,
looking for the perfect pair.
A lost treasure finally found,
an eternity of searching
it felt as if they had suddenly appeared out of the ground.
A “click “ went off at an instant in my head
it was clear, I had spotted them!
They smelt of an empty and lost despair
as if they were crying while trapped inside there.
They felt soft, luscious, and light,
tight and snug strapped on my feet.
I remembered the times we used to share,
we were special.
One of a kind twins.
There was singing, laughing and fun in between.
I’d spent it with you, and There’s no telling what’s in store
but a bright future and fun times galore.
The road will begin as a mystery unsaid, but one thing's for sure,
Its this pair that will join me,
on the colorful journey that lies ahead
