To the warriors of the night,
Who seek relief in despair.
You, too, would fear the dark,
Where regret runs in broken veins,
If you weren’t already there.
To the warriors of the night,
Who see loveliness in fire.
You, too, would reject agony,
Feeding flames with battered voices,
If beauty was desired.
To the warriors of the night,
Who dance among the dead.
You, too, would haunt the breathing,
If you weren’t once one of them
And wished to be again.
