Bound
These chains that bind us are not of stone,
not of metal,
not of bone,
rather something that chains us all.
These chains that bind us are matted in dust,
as early we learned we could not break free,
we stopped trying, forgetting what could be.
It’s a grim fate we have come to accept,
yet is it chaining us, or something we've kept?
These chains that bind us are not of stone,
not of metal,
not of bone,
but rather the doubt we decide to keep.
They grow stronger and weaker, however you please,
because the thoughts in your mind are the keys to release.
