Make Me Your Masterpiece
Save me, save me
Rip apart my skin so you can put me back together
The way god intended, whole and able.
I want you to be a part of my making
I want to look at my skin
And remember that your very essence is within me
Because my essence isn’t enough.
--
I want to look down at a birthmark
And know you assessed it, decided to leave it;
I want to run my hands over my swells and dips
And remember that you caressed them, chose to keep them;
I want to find a new freckle
And love that you picked its exact spot.
I want to relinquish sole responsibility of myself
And hand it over to you
Like the reins to the Queen’s carriage
Because I lost my map
And I was a s*** navigator to begin with.
And if you finish your task
And don’t see the point in staying anymore
I won’t hold you back
Because I’ll always be able to hold myself
And remember that my body was your canvas
And that I am just a masterpiece,
Waiting to be shed light on.
