I woke up today.

Every day blends into another
Morning after morning,
Sun growing duller.
The mountain of reality is a climb too steep
for me
under the weight of the back full of burdens I keep
I mean it when I say
I'd lie here forever
even if I'm choking on the words that overflow my mouth
all the ones that wont escape as sound,
and as my mind grows strong
my will grows weak.
No discretion between
the visions that haunt me asleep
and the ones that make it seem
as though I'm living in the epitome of a dream,
I'd like to rip my skin off in a single peel,
And as nothing about myself will ever appeal
I've been having to ask
is this real?

Despite it all
the only salvation I'll seek
I receive
from the thief of my heartbeat.
Heal me pressing tongues against tongues
as you inhale the breath from my lungs
a-aching for the kiss that can leach
the poision from my unspoken fragments of speech
replace the burning in my viens
with the warm coursing of your name,
is the way you make me feel

Blanketed by your whispers, your moans
My eyes have opened to a brighter day
Where I didn't regret being awake
The moment I'd wake
And for that my heart is yours to take,
for heavens sake.

I woke up today.
