Enchanting white spirals furnish
The dainty golden hallways
Green sparks manifest somewhere
In the back of my mind
Those once golden hallways
Are nothing but illusion
The conclusion that we are no more
Than deer caught in headlights,
The child with no balloons on his or her birthday
The throw away tin can sitting at the bottom
Of your trash can
A lion besieged by shiny silver bars
The comets that no one ever sees
Stars dying in the winter night sky
The moon sank down to its knees
And asked me quietly,
“Why does no one care about me?”

The author's comments:
We often hear tragic stories and forget about them a day later. We often promise that we will talk to someone later and we never do it. We have to remember those small things so that trouble doesn't build up and people aren't left behind.
