At ten
Dressed in possibly the best
Ponytail hanging from side of my head
a scornful frown
and eyes full of rage
exasperated with the broken toys and
heart feeling caged
I was too young to know then
perhaps it wasn't me chocking myself
not the scraps of broken plastic,
neither pieces of fragile glass doll
