Afternoon Tea
Blistering peach tea steams in a delicate glass pot above a glimmer of burning light
a gentle silver tower tray clutches small flavorsome delights
the lowest section of it presents precisely cut petite sandwiches
the middle embraces a burning hot chocolate chip scone and cranberry scone
the highest grasps tiny delicious cupcakes scraping sky high
gentle porcelain sits in front of me
beaming with brilliance
a glossy fine china and its holder
napkins draped in silver artwork
the room is small
and exquisitely ornamented
I take a seat at a small tanned polished table
and I and my grandmother chat softly
Audrey Hepburn grins from across the room
and a small number of small coaches lay across the floor in slumber
the walls a deep chocolate brown
calm is in the air
afternoon tea is the finest on this snow-white winter day
