Thankfulness
I can see
 The sun rising,
 sending a kaleidoscope of
 colors across the
 sky.
 I can breathe,
 intaking the
 crisp, cool
 morning air.
 I can eat,
 fresh food,
 with an
 extensive variety
 to choose from.
 I can write,
I can spill my thoughts onto a page
 without fear.
 I can read,
I can allow myself to be swept into
 other worlds.
 I can live,
 free of oppression.
 I can listen,
to whatever I choose to listen to,
 music or otherwise.
 I can speak,
 I can speak my mind
 and say what I
 need
 to say.
 I can believe,
 believe in my God
 or no God.
 I can walk,
 run, jump, skip.
 I can be,
 myself and not
 care
 what others think.
 I am rich,
rich in hope and in friends,
rich in thought and in word,
rich in love and in kindness,
rich in freedom and in compassion,
rich in emotion and in deed,
rich in time and in energy,
rich in fortune and in health.
 I am rich.
