Tonight's the Night
I swallow the fear developing in the back of my throat
I clench my eyes shut
Hoping the tears will go away forever
The knot in my throat won't seem to disappear
I couldn't speak even if I wanted too.
My week pale hands lay on the cold door handles
I could hear the music
I could see everyone dancing
My fellow peers having a blast
Dancing to the jive
I began to open the door cautiously
I walked in the room
Dignity shown through me
I just want them to know
That they didn't break me
