Secrets

we throw our secrets into the shadows,

no sound believed

we see the light burst through the dark,

no despair freed

we were told we’d fall far down,

our ears believed

we locked them in a cell still,

no despair freed

The author's comments:
At first glance, this poem seems to be about how we as people, attempt to bury our darkest secrets. We ignore their cries and try to keep them from public. But I hope people can find the deeper meaning. As in, once a dream is shattered, it turns into a terrible downfall. It becomes a shadow lurking in our heads, trying to make us hear it but we choose to ignore.
