Footsteps pounded one by one down the hall in slow time.
At sudden impulse they violently shuffled to the side of my bed.
Exhales of breath misted a haze of warm moisture on the cold of my face.
Hands grabbed me and stuck finger prints on the skin I lay in
Pieces of conversation shredded the silence of the room
How are yous beating in my hearing
Hellos come resonating in my head
And I said things that were silent
My eyes stayed shut
Involuntarily
And I rested
Involuntarily
