I’m not human at all
Just a ghost walking with regret
Empty whispers fall on faulty ears
My words are never heard
Lost and alone
I walk

Latched onto the light others emit
Absorbing their warmth
My only source of comfort
Momentarily bring me out of this darkness inside of me
Long enough to catch my breath

It’s like drowning
Except every time I get close to the end
When I finally catch that glimpse of peace
I’m brought back to this corrupt world
Only to be pushed back into the water and held down again

This torturous cycle of suffering is endless
Sinking
I am sinking further into myself
Closing all the doors I left open
Not even a window cracked to let in the breeze
