How it must feel
To be worn on a heel.
Made of leather,
Like a bird’s feather.
Even at the zoo.

Always a two,
And not used by the few.
Bound with laces
Tied to certain faces;
Just as a slave.

Crushed like a wave.
Everybody must have.
None are the same.
All part of a vile game,
Like a child’s toy.

Cold like alloy,
Worse than the wretched troy.
In high demand
Under one’s command.
The string will break.

I was pondering what it felt like to be a slave that was treated like dirt, until I realized that shoes lived feeding on the dirt we walk on.
