The Beast Inside
Don’t come near,
or else you’ll hear,
the scratching and the clawing,
the moaning and the gnawing.
There’s something inside of me,
something that you cannot see.
It’s what many call a beast,
my soul its feast.
It sends a shiver down my spine,
throwing me far out of line.
They sneer and whisper, “freak,”
but I don’t dare speak.
Afraid of its escape,
I try to maintain my shape.
But it can do harm only unto me,
the only one who can see.
