I Can See You Now
I can see you now with Mom,
When she was young,
Doing her hair
Singing to her,
And giving advice to her.
I can see you now,
In a little Russian house,
Doing little Russian dishes,
Cooking luscious Russian food,
And washing dirty Russian laundry.
Was there a grandpa?
I have a feeling there was,
Would you two eat together?
Play piano together?
Read together?
Or play cards together?
I can see you now,
Looking into my big olive green eyes
Saying,
“I love you, don’t you ever forget that!”
Are you the one who named me?
~Konanova Alina A.~
I hope you are,
because I love that name.
I feel like a princess with that name.
That’s it!
I’m your little, small, and tiny
olive-eyed Russian
Princess.
Did you ever see me?
Did you ever hold me?
Did I ever talk to you?
Did I ever understand our language?
I know I have two other siblings…
Do we look alike?
Are we close in age?
I want to meet them….
I want to see mom…. and dad.
But I especially want to see you.
Because without you.
There would be no mom.
No siblings.
No me.
I’m sorry if I’m asking to many
questions.
I’m just so talkative…
Daddy and Mommy always tell me to remember
that both you and Mom didn’t
want to let me go.
That you loved me as much as a
mouse loves its cheese.
That you only put me in that
orphanage so I could have a better life in America.
I may not remember seeing you.
But I swear I can see you now.
I can see you with mom…
I can see you many places now.
I can see you knitting a scarf.
I can see you playing piano.
I can see you cooking food for grandpa.
But at times I always get a feeling that you are in the clouds….
With HIM.
God
Watching over me.
I wish that I could see you
Grandpa
Mom
Dad
Brothers?
Sisters?
Aunts
Uncles
And someday we will see each other.
I know we will.
Just some day,
we will look into each others eyes while we are in the clouds.
With HIM.
I will see you then.
~But as I wait for that time you can watch over me~
