Like A Candle
Your eyes tap in like a curious child's.
I fail to act as if I'm not impacted.
My fingers grow numb and I begin to choke.
If it was but an eerie presence, I'd preside.
Now you're expecting too much of me.
I can't help but let my nerves break free.
Adrenaline pushes my fingers to dance.
Yet the disappointment carries.
Solitude is the fire that burns inside.
And with that I may go on.
But if that is taken,
Water is poured...
And like a candle.
The water falls and mixes with wax.
Burning down to what will be ash.
Filling my coaster- I drown.
