You see the darkness
creeping in the shadows
waiting for its chance
to step in and destroy

you watch it grow
feeding off the your anger
thriving off your sadness
waiting for you to slip

you hang by your fingers
trying not to fall
fall into that pit
where your nightmares come to life

you cry for help
longing for that rescue
that you sure is never to come
slowly giving into the pull

you see your happiness
you see your childhood
the friends you once had
and the life you wanted

you see the light above
and the darkness below
you crave the light
but the darkness is stronger

you stand on the edge
of giving up it all when
you look up to the light once more

you look into the darkness
you see your sadness
the pain they caused
and the happiness they took

as you step of the edge
fingers slip into your grasp
gently begging you not to go
asking you to come back

ou wipe away the tears
asking them how
how to survive the pain
to be able to join the light

follow me they say
I can help
you have to trust
but trust is hard to give

you have given trust before
its why your on this edge
debating it's worth
scared to be vulnerable again

they lead you away
from that pit of darkness
you try to trust
you hope this times different

This piece was inspired by my struggle to fit into the place I was. I wanted to give up and not try anymore but then one person gave me a chance and helped pull me through some really difficult times. This poem really was inspired by how they changed my life and how it wouldn't have been the same if they hadn't stopped and helped me.
