Life is so full of tales of triumph and success,
One can often forget how hard life can be,
And that is why,
I don't write happy stories.

A young man, searching for lost love,
Things seem bleak, he seems likely to fail,
Though there is still a chance, a hope that he will succeed,
But I don't write happy stories.

A woman, struggling to balance work and family,
The bill collectors all but tear down her door,
Perhaps she'll get lucky, win big on the lottery tickets she buys,
But I don't write happy stories.

And then there is me, more lost than found,
I think I know a good thing before it is torn away from me,
But I hope not this time, this time must be different,
But I don't write happy stories...

...Maybe it's time I start.
