the Fire
In the beginning we’re all fascinated By Fire. Entrapped by the ostentatious manner in which the Flames dance and Lured by the welcoming Warmth
Soon though, we discover just how
Cruel the Fire really is. The Flames
Burn and Sting. The Heat is unbearable
We are taken aback by the pain and scarred.
You were my Fire. At first I was Infatuated by
You—You were interesting and exciting. Your
Large brown eyes seemed honest. Your voice kind,
The feel of your hand in mine was natural.
But then you Burned me. You Tore me apart
And watched me fall to pieces. And even though
I cried, you didn’t stop. You just slowly faded away
Like the Embers at the bottom of the Pit.
Their color beautiful and captivating
But much too dangerous to hold.
You were my Fire and my Embers
And you destroyed me.
