I’m hiding
Afraid to make a stand
My voice remains unheard
I am a witness
Abuse and neglect are daily evils
Screams and tears consume my mind
Not my own pain, much worse
Scars thrive on the one I love
I want to help, to prevent future trauma
That’s not possible, the threats hit replay
Words come with a price
A cost too high to afford
I was there -
My silence says I wasn’t
I know the truth
But I’m hiding
