Bealaí a Trí Déag Féach ar Bás (Thirteen Ways to Look at De
Death wears a dark cloak,
Hanging loosely around her body.
She watches us, waiting for us.
Bás buaileann linn.
Death meets us.
Death is a whore,
Death takes without consent.
She never gives.
Dark. Frightening.
Immortal and never ceasing.
Ease. Pure ease.
Finally feeling peace,
For the first and last time.
Withholder of secrets,
Carrying a secret to your
Death bed. Never tell.
Separator of lovers,
“Till death to us part.”
You chant in white…
Little do you know,
It will come soon.
Many meet her with open arms.
Awaiting freedom.
Taking their own lives,
Making Death’s job easier.
Watching someone disappear,
Die and fall into Death’s arms.
Tears stream down faces.
Black outfits signify the event.
Watching the humans cry over me.
All I do is collect those who need to leave.
Waiting for my own to come.
Those who cheat Death make her angry,
She then tries to constantly kill you.
Lady Death. Never mess with her.
Bow down. You know nothing.
Mortals, fear me.
