How can one be so beautiful on the outside,
but on the inside,
lost.
broken.

It was gradual,
like the turning of the season.
sunny and bright and warm,
seemingly never ending.

we are drawn closer to the sun, never stopping.
darker yet, everyday.
you do not realize, until suddenly,
it is dark.

the nights are longer.
and it is no longer warm.
a blundering blizzard, impossible to escape.
and with no salvation from the cold.

but such a happy smile.
only you know how fake it really is.
those that do know,
do understand,
are silenced.

because they were skeptical.
how could you be so broken?
why, they ask, why is it?
you are full of potential, kindness, beauty.

they see it everyday.
but it is never worthy of worry,
never about something real.
and it is brushed aside.

that is why you have slipped away.
into the blizzard-
lost.
blinded.
broken.
but can’t you see, we care!
it may seem we don’t-
because we don’t know how to deal with it.
it is rough, but we can overcome this.

take my hand, i’ll take yours.
we will take the first step together,
united with hope.
and we will conquer this.

so that you are happy once again,
not broken.
it is springtime-
the blizzard is over.
