My Hero
A father holds his newborn child.
He beams down at the beautiful baby.
A smile takes over the man’s face,
And he whispers,
You are my hope, my strength, my hero.
It’s the young girl’s first day school,
She clenches tight to her father’s hand.
The father kneels down taking his daughter in his arms and says,
I know you can do it because
You are my hope, my strength, my hero.
A call comes to the house.
It’s the father’s time to serve.
He kisses his family goodbye.
Wiping the tears from his teenage child’s eyes, he smiles,
Stay strong sweetheart,
You are my hope, my strength, my hero.
The young woman stands at the foot of the flag covered casket.
She stands tall and proud.
A single tear rolls down her cheek.
She almost chokes as she says her final words to her father.
You are my hope, my strength, my hero.
