This Isn't You
There’s a way of thinking that’s
infectious. A paradigm targeting
white purity. Toxic, ugly emotions ooze and permeate
in the gut of your stomach,
spreading through your body like
the Black Plague.
Hate consumes you,
twisting your essence into an evil
foreign to your benevolent character.
With piercing gazes you lock onto each other.
Your throat starts knotting up as you feel the burn
of salty tears behind your eyes.
Trembling, your clammy hands grasp
the handle of the gun. His last words are,“I’m sorry.”
Deep down, you know he’s lying,
fueling your anger even more.
He’s pushed you past your breaking point before,
but today you’ll end the pain.
Years of misery - humiliation - will fade
into the past, never to be resurrected.
You utter the words, “I hate you,”
and pull the trigger.
