The Man Will Stick It To You
Boxes compartmentalizing our lives into compact cubes,
packaged and ready to be shipped out into the system.
Born immersed without the truth,
only Time can reveal the conformity of a society
that obeys the life put before them.
You’ll grow and explore the world,
attend school because you’re made to,
flow with the current, graduating towards college
where student debt will consume you,
to then starting a career only
to pay your way back to freedom.
Eventually, you’ll settle down,
tinkering with your own machines programmed to follow
the path that our generations naively assumed.
Life becomes routine, automatic,
as each day blisters with the mundane
while you age, greying with a drole pessimistic view
of the world you’re pressured to embrace.
Bought into debt, the cornerstone of respect
crumbles beneath the weight of corruption.
Society suffers unknowingly, living only on the superficial surface
fabricated to appease the fake matrix they live in.
We the people believe in the pillars
of morality, integrity, and humility that our leaders preach,
applaud their bold lies in the moment only to
denounce their sins when they are revealed.
A culture pioneered by crude corporations,
crooked politicians, and money hoarding dogs.
You wish you could change the system,
but your voice is weak, and you will suffer
grievously if you try to stand up against them.
But Time has yet to take you away, and fortunately
there’s still room to adapt. Instead you can play
their game, manipulating it for your own selfish benefits.
If you must live in their world, surely you can bend the rules too.
You’re only following their model example.
Inspired by the truth, it’s time for your box to be opened.
