Your Whole World
I remember your laugh, your smile, and the way you held me:
As though you held the world in your hands.
I smile at these fond memories as the painful ones follow,
I remember trying to hold it in, trying to mend the broken pieces.
But I only hurt myself again on those pieces, and when I turn for help,
You’re no longer beside me.
These sharp shards don’t fit together perfectly like they used to
And in these chipped away places is where I find you.
Smiling, laughing, holding me, your whole world, in your hands.
