Of a shooting fountain (The sun sets; and the lightness fades)

She watches
the thick woven strands of water shoot up into the fading yellow-orange sun, catching in its net the rosy lightness of soft twilight to return the color to its mother;

yet they cannot reach;

they fall, in large drops in that still remain taints of warm pink frivolity and gently bright colors
until they return to earth
a once could-be
a forgotten dream.

The author's comments:
We have a fountain near my apartment complex; I passed by it while the sun was setting, and it looked pretty.

Then I thought; when it's night-time, and the sun goes down, then it'll all be gone. So there's some strange ephemeral nature of beauty that is a little sad.
