A lover's Curse
I cursed my hands for holding the doorknob and not letting you sleeve, I cursed my fingers for grabbing onto your coat sleeve, I cursed my feet for stubbornly standing in the way, and I cursed my stupid naïve heart for allowing you to stay.
I cursed cupid’s arrow for striking me with love with love, I cursed the scene of that evening the indigo sky above, and I cursed the gifts you bought me that melted my icy heart and I cursed my mind for its infatuation from the very start.
I cursed st valentine and roses too and everything that reminded me of you, candlelight and fireflies and green eyes I cursed them all, even the day we met, middle of fall.
I cursed the love and the tear filled nights, the smashed champagne bottles and angry bitter fights, I cursed chandeliers and strawberries and New Year’s Eve and old movies too, all because of you.
