Inside
Tell me, have you ever looked into a child’s eyes?
You can see the hopefulness that lies inside, but wait, take another look.
Depression, anxiety, borderline personality, O.C.D.
Tell me, do you see these things?
We are brought up in this society that doesn't have any sense of reality.
Your childhood is thought to be the simplest of times…
What if a mental disorder stole this from your life?
What can you say to this child’s face?
What do you respond with when they ask you why they’re always sad or mad, but don’t know why?
How do you explain to them what serotonin is to make them understand that the levels of chemicals in your body control your emotions?
What if you weren't born with the ability to see or hear?
Use your eyes as if tomorrow you could be stricken blind because only the deaf appreciate hearing; only the blind realize the manifold blessings that lie in sight.
Fast forward, now she’s ten.
There are a lot of things she still doesn't understand.
Like why do the kids pretend she’s not there?
They don’t even acknowledge her existence.
She decides to escape to fiction, yet teasing and bullying push her around.
She stuck on the ground.
There's no getting out of the center of the crowd.
She tries to get help, but adults just sigh and give her a look.
There’s no going back.
She’s no longer an open book.
Some time has gone by.
She doesn't know why these things keep happening in her life.
Her emotions are going crazy.
She wants what is called to be a “normal” life, but she’s as broken as shattered glass.
There’s no going back.
Her life is crumbling before her very eyes.
The voices drown her.
She tries to speak, but no words come out of her.
There’s a pressure on her chest.
She thinks its death.
It’s like she’s ten feet under,
The walls close in on her.
She can’t breathe.
This is called anxiety.
Here comes another torturer.
About to take another soul from his latest victim.
His eyes gleam red, this is his addiction.
His heart is a black pit.
There is no mercy.
He has to win this game.
She needs to feel his pain.
She doesn't even recognize happiness.
All she feels is sadness.
There’s no going back.
She’s depressed.
And to think,
All this time, she has been stuck in her own mind.
