Butterfly
Why do you fly away from me?
My flighty, fickle butterfly
Your colors are too bright
Your body just too light
To bear the mountain of living
I stand upon the ground, steady feet
Strong shoulders, ready to take the load
Butterfly
Why do you fly?
My hands are here to cradle you, to keep you safe
But you slip between my fingers
Higher
Farther
Too far to see the tears you left behind
My lovely, graceful butterfly
Let your mountain fall
Your wings are too delicate to keep it afloat
Come rest in my arms
I will take the weight
I will lift your sorrow
My flighty, fickle, beautiful, dancing butterfly
Why do you fly away from me?
Higher
Farther
Too far to see
The love you left behind.

I wrote this piece about a person I love dearly, and I think it can apply to many situations and people. Interpret as you will
