Aroma
Oh dearest, we both conspire-
I have felt our words like fire,
And, like a hot flame, they shall relax
Our love to still and melt- to wax!
Here, let us enliven this incense
And calm the room with its keen freshness.
Sit dear, oh! How you feel so cold!
We must speak truth- our tale is told.
The tip in the incense glows
But fades as a mere breeze blows.
That clear fragrance slows the quick heart.
Please, love; in us you must take part!
How faint one becomes in that scent
And swallowed in soulful repent,
Yet, it will soon dissipate
And remind us of our freight.
I desire to stay
But the aroma fades-
A temporary visit
for your own self-benefit.
I am no vibrant flower-
You see a fruit turned sour.
The grey charcoal crumbles-
Our hearts cease to rumble!
