Colors

Life was so long a colorless place
With nothing more than black and white shades.
The colors that were there were a faded bore
And though no part of me hated it,
I longed for something more.

Then you waltzed into my heart
Filling every chamber and well
With something more than I could, yet, tell.

It was only the start
Of your undying care.
Soon enough, I’d happily watch paint dry,
So long as you were there.

Then our colors ran together
Like birds of a feather.
Alone we were incomplete,
Together: a masterpiece.
