Painting in Grey
Here’s to the girl
Who starts off Monday with a smile on her face.
 She knows she’s striving
 Working towards a successful future.
She pictures herself in an office with a view
 Doing the unprecedented.

 Here’s to the girl
 Who goes home on Thursday
Feeling robbed of energy and emotion
Because at the end of the week
She realizes she’ll have no one
With whom to share her little milestones.

 All work and no play
Leaves the heart cold and frayed.
A pretty picture left to grey
Unless colored with light from those surrounding her.

 Here’s to the girl
 Who feels so lost
 Because what she loves
Makes her forget whom she loves.
 She pushed them all away.
