Waxing Faith

October 20, 2013
By Anonymous

I listened to the words drip from my lips
Like coins into an empty alms basket,
Each trembling before given.
Like unfinished promises into a believer’s ears,
We murmured our praises into our hands
To be carried up via smoke
Amen.
As bright colors fall from stained glass,
We shuffled through centuries of steps
Taken to give us new life.
Like the feathers of Icarus’s wings,
Our faith is sealed with wax;
But we will not fall;
We will fly.

Great poem. "Like coins into an empty alms basket, each trembling before given." Amazing use of imagination.
