He sits there,
Death burns and lights his face.
Bones are everywhere.
Once these bones served a purpose
now they sit.
Sit in the dark.
He stares into the distance,
He has an empty stare.
Death has taken his eyes
so he may not see the light,
the light that was once there.
Death has taken his soul.
soon death will burn out
and they will be lonely.
Death is now the only
thing they know.
Death is the only thing that
gives them light.

I wrote this poem about a picture I saw of a skeleton with a cigarette in its mouth, the poem showed what I thought it symbolized.
