When the River Ran Wild

Trees in abundance
Tall and long stretching
Their arms towards
The baby blue sky.

Bald eagles
Soared high up into the clouds
Where the only noise
The sound of your own thoughts
Plants in mass majorities
And species .

When the river ran wild…

Bears played with their cubs
Letting their inner ferociousness
Wild and free.

Natives instructed their children
The ways of the woods
Generations and generations from
Ancestors past, guiding the minds
Of the Natives on the right path.

When the river ran wild…

What do you see today?
Bears in zoos,
Their wild within
Bottled up inside like pressure
inside of a soda can after
Shaking it vigorously
Plastic trees replacing the natural
Beauty of real elongated pines.

No natives’ instructing their children
On the ways of the woods.
Instead children wrangled
inside of a classRoom staring at books.

And no river running wild...
