Silver Heart—My Little brother
Resting in solitary on the dresser,
Left-middle to be exact,
Signifying the placement of a heart.
That silver heart,
A sign of life,
That stands forlorn in the dark, dark wiry nights.
On those raw, cold winter nights,
Seeing that heart beat
A sign of a breath,
A sign of love
A sign of love that was never born.
For what could have been
My little brother,
Running around the house
Playing with him,
For now I’ll just have to close my eyes
Imagining that brother.
For one day,
I shall see my little brother .
My little brother with those
Beautiful white wings
Soaring around with each other.
