Anchored
When one is what you know is good for you
And the other,
is only what you want,
but
in the moments that unfold together
Are filled with such passion,
And fire
It burns out all else
And you can’t even begin
To distinguish the difference
Between good and bad.
When the repetition of the sunrise and set is
Interrupted by
the glorious moon
With a shadow, mysterious and lonely,
You can’t help but
Venture so far to the edge of the unknown
And lean over the edge that
You fall off with just a
Single strand of fear,
One frail tendril,
That keeps you clinging to consciousness.
And secretly you long for the tendril to wither away,
To turn to dust
And leave you unchained and free on this adventure.
But the wispy origin
Of that anchor is the
Constant sun,
Overpowering with the continuous glare
You know so well.
And you have no doubt that it will be with you
Tomorrow to smile
and smile.
