Mine Still Keeps
When the night is bright, when all are asleep, I sometimes hear this melody,
moving softly through the trees,
Come back, come back.
Come back to me, I never
meant to let you leave.
My heart is sore, oh so
sore. My mind is weak, my soul
is torn; One half longing
for the heavens. One half praying
for one day more.
Come back, come back.
I can't believe I said
'come back to me'. You struck
my heart you tore my soul, spit
on my love and mangled
my world with a stone.
Do not come back, do not come
back to me. Because if you do I'll
be next to leave. My heart may be
sore but it still beats. You sold
your soul, but mine?
Mine still keeps.
