the trees
The trees will soon lay bare
Stiff and uncomposed
Barren of the leaves, they once acquired
They fall
And as these leaves fall
The memories are whisped away in the wind
The words left unspoken are left to memories
As the wind turns to a brisk lullaby
Tints of fragrant
And times of need
Remind you
They’ll be home for next year
And perhaps the faces will soon be forgotten
As the color fades
Into a dull blank paper white
But perhaps this time
Instead of the words
The papers are left blank
Of a year spent unjustly
All you can hope
Is that your not alone
The next time the fragrant leaves the scene
And the wind comes back
For another year
And another brink of denial
Because even though
Right now your mind seems composed
Next faded fall
Your thoughts may coexistence
With one
Who seemed to only contradict
