How About a Kiss Goodnight?
After awkward shrugs and several 'why-nots',
I still stiffened when you hand cupped my cheek.
 We weren't in love or
 Even good friends but
 We were caught in
 Mutual tragedy.
You stand brave and tall and skinny and beautiful,
 But when you inched closer–and
 My breath hitched and
 Our minds blanked–
 Your lips,
Both soft and hard against mine,
 Trembled.
