with grandpa in the middle
All of us dressed up with the ornaments of the tree
glistened with the light of the chandelier above
and ribbons in the background give the glorious
old house that has stood there for years
the festive and happy feeling that most get during this time of year
but a shadow stands over this picture as
There was a little part of me that wished
That the inevitable wouldn’t happen
however as leaves fall from a tree
everyone has their time of glory
and their time to fall
And those that are left behind to gaze at the dying tree
will cry remembering the fun they had with it.
Like a tree gives apple grandparents give love
and Like it gave oxygen grandparents have a calm wise air
And as they spoiled and loved there grandchildren we loved them back
Even if it was just a hug we wished we would have given one more
or talked to him more on his rocking chair
or showed how much I loved them with one more kiss on the cheek
Went to their house more after all my grandparents are my heroes.
And no matter how much I might try
That smile I had with three grandparents that had not died
can only now be a fraction of what it was before with one now left.
And now I regret not spending as much time
As I should have with them.

This poem is about a picture I took with my grandpa and me reflecting on how I wished I spent more time with him. Enjoy. The image is just because it is in front of a memorial and my grandpa's dead so seems appropriate. However he didn't die in any really big war but I couldn't find a tombstone.
