Darkness

darkness travels the hall
only hoping to be like the light
it stalks past others along the wall
darkness admires from the outside: shut out
just like the light, it dreams
darkness wishes for all things good
but its dreams are always filled with screams
darkness can’t hide from the dark
the dark is inside darkness
it can’t escape
it seems all dreams are hopeless
is that darkness’ only fate?
