In this war of love
Anything goes
You can’t escape
You’re bound to passion
Trapped in its prison
And you grow sick-
Love sick-
As you become pale and weak
Cupid laughs
Amused at your disease
Holding his bow and arrow
Triumphantly
And watching you bleed-
Unwillingly you moan
Moan for the one you yearn
And your heart beats
An uneven staccato
A stupid heart
That never listens to reason-
A prisoner of hate
You must confess
Unless you want to die
In love’s wicked grip
