He Led
September 26, 2013
Through the searing heat,
his face turned red.
He kept moving his feet,
and he continued and led.
Into a strong wind,
he kept his head.
The pack had thinned,
but he continued and led.
He took the left turn,
off of the old river bed.
His muscles began to burn,
but he continued and led.
The race was near over,
the finish line was just ahead.
He ran harder than ever,
as he continued and led.
