A Calling
The evening began to get cold, and
the lights came on. We knew what
was about to begin. The players
stepped out of their locker rooms
ready to do battle, but something
else caught my attention.
Sounds eminated from within
the woods that sat adjacent to
the field. Entranced, I was drawn
over the fence to the serenity that was
the wilderness. Whistles sounded
in the background.
The woods provided a sanctuary; a
place for me to reflect on my thoughts.
I was alone, but I was also never alone. The
wilderness provided me company, but
eventually I had to go back.
