The pain that have cost us, the evils which have never happened.
- Thomas Jefferson

Is this
How its supposed to go
The fighting and yelling
Echoing through the walls
Anger and frustration
Burning eyes
Vibrations explore the house
Shaking my foundation
My safe place
No longer a home
To support and family
But cries and tears
Raging lungs
Screaming
Is this fair
Do you even care
Is this normal
Loved ones
tearing each other apart
striking at the heart
Killing blows
In our last throes
Should I tell
Would it be okay
How much honest is too much
How much visible pain
Is tolerated
How much should I pretend
That I don't contemplate leaving
Running until my lungs burn
like theirs do
Don't look back
We are all different on the inside
Some are better
Some are worse
I'd have to say we're worse
I hurt inside
I was strong
But I'm finding myself alone
Looking for friends
By any means
Would I still be alone if I were weak
Caught they're attention
That's what I want I won't lie
How much should I tell
Let out a few secrets
See what they do
Retell the screaming that haunts
My dreams
The cries that seep through my door
They'll help at first
Sympathize
But when they see the truth in your eyes
How much you hurt
But how strong you really are
They'll walk away
Say
She only wanted attention
It wasn't real
She didn't feel
And some of that is true
But is it so bad to
Want a friend
Someone to care for you
Watch your back when
Every one else is turned
To cover my ears
Until the fight clears
When too much
Too loud
When all that is proud crumbles
When the screams haunt
I look for safe
Not a place but
Searching for that one person
Who will understand it all
Who will take me as I am
No explanations needed
Because they are just the same
No need to explain
The violent echoes in the walls
The excuses to stay out late
Tempt fate
When we could be safe
At home
But there is no safe
and there is no home
No need to explain
Because they are just the same.
