Smile
The loneliness was crushing, the silence a hammer to my ears.
Why! Why did no one care? I was here! . . . I was here. Forever here, alone, no human beside me, stuck with my thoughts, that slowly start to get darker and darker with each passing day.
“Hello, is no one here?” I scream, scream so loud and so long that my throat bleeds and I wish to die. Oh, the blood, the horrid life sustaining liquid that courses through me.
It prolonged my life . . . my endless existence, alone . . . Why! Why was there life when all life brought was loneliness . . . the overwhelming weight of knowing you were not loved by others?
Crushing pressure filled the hole where my heart was . . . where my soul was supposed to be, where love was supposed to live and thrive, but now there is just a withered husk of a human form lying on the ground slowly dying.
Why? What was the offense I committed that was so grave that all humanity left me?
I will do whatever I can to right the wrong, just please don’t leave me. I hate the silence it hurts, it hurts so much.
A light, a light! Please come closer, I beg of you, I wish to greet you, to love you, if this husk of humanity can still love.
The light draws nearer and a feeling starts to rise in my chest. I have not felt this feeling before, but it brings me happiness so I shall not fear it.
The light envelopes me, and for once in my life I feel loved and warm, so very warm. I close my eyes and breathe my last breath and smile.
